UCONS has managed
a range of energy and water conservation projects. Some examples follow.
Puget Sound Energy
Bellevue, Washington
Since 1984, UCONS provided full service water heating measures to
nearly 100,000 multi-family customers. These upgrades included the delivery,
installation, service and monitoring of 350,000 conservation products
and have provided customers with water conservation savings in excess
of 200,000,000 gallons annually and more than 10 aMW of new conservation
resources.
Since 1993, UCONS provided space and water heating conservation services
to over 11,000 Puget Power mobile home customers. This program provided
customers with water conservation savings in excess of 25,000,000 gallons
annually and reduced electrical usage by 3 aMW.
Pacific Power
Portland, Oregon
UCONS was the successful bidder to provide a residential conservation
program in response to Pacific's 1992 RFP for demand resources. Our Washington
program provided water and electrical conservation measures to 7,000 multi-family
customers, conserving water usage of 20,000,000 gallons annually and 1
aMW of energy savings.
UCONS was also selected
by Pacific in 1993 to provide conservation services to low-income single
family, mobile home and multi-family customers in Oregon. Our program
provided for the delivery of all cost effective weatherization plus space
and water heating measures. This pay-for-performance program began operation
in January 1994. The installation phase was concluded in March 1995.
During 1995 and 1996,
UCONS provided over 30,000 multi-family dwellings in Oregon with comprehensive
energy conservation measures. These upgrades included the design, installation,
and monitoring of services which provided Pacific Power with over 7 aMW
of new conservation resources. Water conservation savings of 69,000,000
gallons annually were also achieved.
Portland General
Electric
Portland, Oregon
In September 1996, PGE had a conservation shortfall of nearly 4 aMW. They
turned to UCONS in September 1996 to meet their goal. In the last four
months of 1996, UCONS provided 13,000 multi-family dwellings with a comprehensive
set of energy conservation measures. This program included the design,
installation, service and monitoring of floor and ceiling insulation,
low flow showerheads, faucet aerators, pipe wraps, and efficient, line-voltage
thermostats. This program provided PGE customers with over 4 aMW of new
conservation resources. Water conservation savings of 30,000,000 gallons
annually were also achieved.
In October 2001, PGE again contracted with UCONS to provide 1.5 aMW conservation
savings through a comprehensive multi-family efficiency program targeted
to reach 10,000 tenants in 6 months. This program was completed on May
1, 2002.

measures to under-served customers. CAL-UCONS has also participated in
the SCE residential contractor program (RCP).This program focuses on duct
sealing and lighting measures. The program was completed in July 1999.
Most recently, UCONS and American
Synergy partnered a winning proposal to the California Public Utilities
